U.S. Embassy Celebrates Shared Centennial for Women’s Right to Vote

August 25th, 2020, BRATISLAVA — The U.S. Embassy, together with the daily SME and the city of Bratislava, marked 100 years of voting rights for Czechoslovak and American women in a successful online event with TED Talk-style addresses by extraordinary women. Ambassador Brink opened with remarks on the launch of the Women’s Global Development and Prosperity Initiative and the importance of a strong support network at home and in the workplace. The event included remarks by Deputy Prime Minister Remisova, and leading Slovak women in business and social protection.  The event closed with a highly-anticipated concert by famous Slovak singer Jana Kirschner. This event is part of a larger Embassy campaign to commemorate the shared anniversary of voter rights, which has included targeted speaker programs as well as successful podcasts and on the issue, which can be found here.
