The Embassy hosted approximately 50 alumni of the Summer Work and Travel (SWT) program at the U.S. Ambassador’s residence on November 24 for a Thanksgiving reception. The reception also served as an award ceremony for the Embassy’s annual SWT photo contest. The contest, which took place on the Embassy’s Facebook page, reached 340,000 people – making it our most successful Facebook post of the year – and the winning photograph received over 6,500 likes. Charge d’Affaires Liam Wasley welcomed our guests and spoke to them about history of Thanksgiving. He also presented an iPad mini to contest winner Kamil Sajben. The Embassy displayed photos from the 20 contest finalists at the event, which will be on display in the Embassy’s Consular waiting room over the coming year. The Embassy appreciated this opportunity to meet Slovak youth who had participated in the SWT program and celebrate an American holiday with them.
