PAO Jason Khile and members of the PAS Bratislava team visited Kosice and Presov, the second and third largest cities in Slovakia, from February 10-11. Khile spoke to about 200 students at Presov’s Konstantin Gymnazium and at the InfoUSA Center in Kosice about Chicago as part of the Embassy’s U.S. Travel and Tourism series. The PAO also spoke about the African-American experience in Chicago, and the influence of African-American music and culture on America. In Kosice, the Embassy renewed its agreement with the State Scientific Library to host the InfoUSA Center, which organizes programs on American politics and culture, in addition to providing advising services for students interested in studying in the United States. The PAO also met with faculty from the American Studies Departments of both the University of Presov and Safarik University in Kosice to talk about English language, exchange and alumni programs. Finally, the Public Affairs team visited the Wave Club in Presov to view an anti-corruption political cartoon exhibit the Embassy had supported with a small grant.
