Fifteen English language teachers (ELT) from journalism departments all over Slovakia gathered for a two-day workshop at the InfoUSA center in Bratislava to improve their teaching skills. English Language Fellow Nathan Meyer, visiting from Serbia, explored innovative teaching methods during the workshop’s morning sessions, while visiting American Fulbright lecturer, Professor of Journalism Robert Kochersberger, presented “Journalism Today: Writing and Editing for the Media” in the afternoon.

Participants reported that they were not familiar with any of the innovative teaching methods that Meyer introduced, and the sessions with Kochersberger helped them to better understand the work of journalists, as the ELTs learned how to analyze stories from U.S. newspapers and prepare news writing exercises for students.
